I’m saving my money…

I’m saving money by not having breakfast at the Norsemen Inn’s cafe after my night shifts. Instead, I’m eating at home before I go to bed. This is saving me between seven and twelve dollars a shift, and when I work ten to eleven shifts per pay period, it adds up. Yes, I am still taking taxi rides to and from work, but I took out cash for that when I deposited my check in the first place, so it’s already accounted for in the budget.

I might be earning a decent amount of money now, but if I don’t use it wisely, I’ll always be in debt to the credit card companies and never save up for anything that I want in the future, like a home that I own and not rent. By saving and not spending now, I’ll be able to spend big in the future on such things without accumulating too much debt getting them. (Of course, if I can convince my landlord to let me get a business license, I’ll be able to start making money from the Alberta Business Directory but that’s a different story and problem.)

I’ve put off grocery shopping for tomorrow…

I have decided to put off grocery shopping until tomorrow morning despite my decision to get up early today to get it done before my live stream. It was an easy decision after I saw how little money I had left in my checking account, and needed to transfer some money from my savings to get everything on my shopping list. Add in the fact that it was almost 8:30 am when I made the decision and I start live streaming at 10 am on the days I stream (like today), and you can see where I needed to manage my time more efficiently.

Tomorrow is a day off from streaming (and it takes a day for the money to transfer between a savings account and a checking account) so I’ll have the time before work in the morning to go grocery shopping without having to rush. Yeah, I won’t have my yogurt or waffles for my breakfast tomorrow, but I can go without for one day. 😉
